Battle Castle

Launch Date:
Friday, May 20, 2011

TV is one of the ultimate storytelling vehicles, and documentaries are a key way to tell important stories. So we're very excited to launch battlecastle.tv, the first teaser site for a doc series on the world's greatest castles and their impact. It's a transmedia production we're working on with Parallax Film Productions.

In this first incarnation, you can watch the trailer, meet the host Dan Snow, see behind-the-scenes photos and videos and keep up to date with the film crew's progress and stories on the blog.

We'll be rolling out more online goodies in the months to come, leading up to the six part TV series release in January 2012. Together they will give you the chance to explore how and why castles were constructed and how they were sieged. We can't reveal too much at this point, but be sure to tune in to the website and follow us on twitter @battlecastle.

We're excited to #gomedieval with you!

Siege biscuits: You really can eat just one

Today we're celebrating the launch of our Battle Castle flash game and teaser site with siege biscuits!

These not-so-tasty treats were carried by armies as they prepared for the long siege ahead. The hard, twice-cooked bread was resistant to mould and made from whatever scraps of grain, fat and salt that was left in the castle cellars.
